What is trust from the standpoint of the dharma? Trust takes myriad forms including: interpersonal trust (of self, institutions, teachers, the body, intuition, feelings), trust of the dharma, and trusting the moment. We have to be aware of how trust is arising in our lives, see how various corruptions might be occurring in that process, and then see how we receive the experience of trust. Only after careful examination can we experience what in classic Buddhism is called “clear comprehension.” This talk explores the distinction between transactional trust and innate trust, the former being exchange-based and the later measured by the experience itself.
