We scan for tension in the body, finally noticing the earth element — that which is hard and heavy — in the lower half of our body. We allow the earth element in the body to rest on the Earth; this is also described as “sitting in the bones.” Resting in this way, we follow the breath at whatever body point is easiest for us and sustain our attention on the breath.
